Bloom Spring Step & Movement Challenge

Challenge Dates: April 1 – 30

Bloom is a simple, spring‑themed movement challenge designed to help you move more, stay motivated, and feel connected, whether you join solo or with a friend.

Any movement counts. Walk, swim, cycle, dance, or stretch. Bloom converts it all into progress you can see as your personal Bloom branch grows.

How it Works

  • Move your way — log steps or minutes anytime, anywhere 
  • Watch your Bloom branch grow as you earn blossoms 
  • Join solo or invite friends, family, or coworkers 
  • Stay motivated with shared progress and community features

Who Can Participate

Open to CalVEBA members, district employees, and friends or family ages 18+. Teams are optional.

What You’ll Get

  • A fun, flexible way to build daily movement habits 
  • Social motivation without pressure or perfection 
  • Access to 200+ healthy recipes 
  • Earn entries toward Bay Bridge Run/Walk tickets (five winners!)

Join a supportive small group where you’ll explore simple, meaningful ways to enhance your daily well-being. Each week offers guided conversation, reflection prompts, and practical exercises that help you notice what brings you joy and build habits that support a more fulfilling life. You’ll receive a free copy of the book and a journal to deepen your experience. Participants are expected to attend all six weekly sessions.

Embracing Happiness:

What’s Really Holding You Back?

Thursday, April 23

Join us to explore the science of happiness, what supports it, and what blocks us from experiencing it. Drawing from insights from the longest-running study on human happiness, you’ll learn to identify the stressors that stand in the way of a more joyful life. We’ll also dive into practical strategies that help you remove these roadblocks to make happiness a daily reality.

Consciousness As Medicine

6-Week Program runs April 28 – June 2

Tuesdays, 4:00 pm 5:00 pm

Kearny Mesa Resource Center

Find calm, grounding, and support during cancer care in this gentle, mind-body small group led by an experienced Critical Care and Holistic RN. Each session introduces practical tools such as breathwork, guided imagery, sound, acupressure, and self-regulation practices that help ease stress, support comfort, and promote emotional balance.

You’re welcome to join any week and attend one or all sessions based on what feels right for your healing journey. Members should register each week. Attending all six sessions is encouraged but not required.

Loss & Healing Program

6-Week Program runs May 6 – June 10

Navigate grief in a supportive, small group led by a licensed clinical psychologist who offers a compassionate, grounded space for people experiencing loss related to divorce, death, health changes, identity shifts, and other life transitions. Each session introduces simple, practical tools that help you process emotions, rebuild routines, and strengthen your sense of connection and resilience during life changes.

You’ll learn practical strategies for building habits and strengthening internal motivation so you can make meaningful and sustainable progress.

Tools for a Thriving Mind

Explore how your brain creates memories, maintains focus, and adapts over time as you gain practical strategies to strengthen cognitive health and support optimal mental performance. In this workshop, you’ll learn how memory, attention, and brain adaptability develop and change throughout life. From there, we build on that with practical strategies designed to strengthen cognitive function and long-term brain health.
