“Choose joy!”
Megan Karlan grew up in a suburb outside of Philadelphia. A gentle, grounded spirit, Megan’s love of caring for people led to a career in nursing. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, she began her career at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia working as a Registered Nurse in Pediatric Oncology. As a pediatric oncology nurse, she provided individualized education for patients and their families — a passion she has carried over into her new role at the VEBA Resource Center.
As a Care Navigator for VEBA, Megan builds personal relationships with Members to educate and empower them throughout the stages of their health journey. She meets one-on-one with Members to listen to their unique story and then provides an individualized approach to help guide them along their journey to wellness. Through conversations with Members, Megan creates strategies and provides the support and motivation Members need to reach their individual goals. She connects them with the resources they need to self-improve, heal and bridge the gap between where they are and where they would like to be when it comes to health. Megan strives to help Members find a balance between all aspects of health — physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. She is passionate about providing Members holistic care and coaching them to connect to their inner wisdom in order to help guide them on the path to wellness.
While she attended the University of Pennsylvania, she was a triple jumper for the Track & Field team. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, is a Registered Nurse (RN) and a board-certified nurse coach (NC-BC). She is a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association. When Megan is not with her VRC family, she is with her own family. An otherwise stay-at-home mom to her two-year-old daughter, Megan is passionate about living an active and balanced lifestyle that includes trips to the beach and park, doing yoga, or spending quality time at home.
